Oakland's got grit, swag and soul- but the heart of Oakland is Lake Merritt.  It is the one place that all of Oakland- east, west, north, hills or flats, gathers to recreate.

Oakland's Got HeART! Has identified nine sites around Lake Merritt where we will be siting temporary art installations for optimal edge interaction between the land and the water. Programming for the sites will include informal, semi-programmed and programmed events.  Two of the sites, the amphitheater and the Edoff Bandstand, allow for much larger gatherings and include local artisans, craftspeople and food vendors. A site on the northeast side of the lake will be our flagship site and includes the Cleveland Cascade, a 250-foot-long ornamental stairway across from the lake and will feature a temporary mural, providing an additional backdrop for the performing arts.

These are conceptual renderings of how we will insert art in the natural environment and engage community. Final artistic concepts will be developed after further engagement with community stakeholders around the major issues impacting Oakland, the arts community and Lake Merritt.
