The Art
SOA will develop a series of land and water-based mobile art installations around and on Lake Merritt called Oakland's Got HeART, that create an intimate and immersive environment for observers, and serve as an environment for a range of performing arts activities. A pair of mobile installations will work in tandem: one on land and on on the water, while additional smaller site-specific works of art will be installed at strategic locations around the lake.
The Community | The process by which we will use the arts to re-orient the interaction between the land, the lake and its visitors includes engaging various sectors of the community through these temporary installations of art.
Oakland’s Got HeART! will leverage the arts to achieve two very important goals, which include advancing the missions of the conservators of Lake Merritt and to enhance the audiences of artists and arts organizations in Oakland.
