Oakland’s Got HeART! Is a project by the nonprofit organization Support Oakland Artists, that has brought together a dynamic group of artists and curators to develop a series of land and water-based art installations that will serve as a backdrop for individual performing artists and arts organizations. Along with the art installations, Oakland’s Got HeART! will create an immersive environment for artists, arts patrons and unsuspecting onlookers to come together in a cultural exchange, providing an opportunity for sharing of ideas and experiences. Oakland is at a crossroad and the conversations between the different segments of the society seem to be moving apart as opposed to together- similar to the national conversations about equity and oppression.

Oakland’s Got HeART! Is a temporary public art installation, which will combine an immersive arts experience with local performing artists and arts organizations.
The Artists
Oakland’s Got HeART! will be executed by a dynamic group of Oakland-based artists and curators representing a variety of backgrounds and a common understanding of the value of art in change.
The Site
East, West and North Oakland represent the body of the city, but Lake Merritt is the heart. With this project, SOA will put the art in the heart of Oakland.
